The Company
Bioganix plc operates in the waste management sector.  The Group’s principal activity is the processing of organic wastes such as the by-products from food processing and source separated domestic waste collected by local authorities.  The Bioganix process involves in-vessel composting of waste material to produce a nutrient rich fertiliser replacement product for use by farmers.  The compost is also used for soil conditioning and brown-field site reclamation.

The Bioganix business was established at Wharton Court, near Leominster in Herefordshire, in 2001.  The company came into being following an investment by the 7Y Group, a farmer owned organisation.  Between 2001 and 2004 the Bioganix in-vessel process was developed and the Company’s first composting plant was designed and built.  Following successful proving of the Bioganix composting process, in 2005 the Company bid for and won a ten year contract to process source separated kitchen waste for Suffolk County Council.  To deliver this contract, Bioganix purchased a former waste transfer station at Parham near Ipswich and started construction of the new factory in January 2006.  The Parham plant became fully operational in May 2006.

During 2005 the 7Y Group and the Bioganix Directors decided that the business needed access to further capital to develop and grow.

Thus a stock market floatation was pursued and on April 28th 2006, Bioganix was successfully listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange at an initial market capitalisation of £7.75 million.

In May 2008, the new Sharpness facility started processing waste. Based at Sharpness Docks, near Gloucester, this new Bioganix plant has the capacity to process up to 50,000 tonnes of green, kitchen and food material per year.

Bioganix plc’s strategy  is to build and operate further Bioganix in-vessel composting plants throughout the UK to compost a range of organic waste streams.
